So today and tomorrow are my last two days of classes at Tuck. It's bittersweet because I am happy that I am going to be done, but disappointed that my time at Tuck is coming to an end.
So many things have been going on.
Paris me manqueThe first time I saw the new Mariah Carey video for
Say Somethin, I almost cried. It made me miss Paris so much. I knew exactly all of the places where she filmed the video. But, in my reference to pop culture, she still doesn't know how to dress for her size. She is probably a size 6 and insists on dressing like she is a size 0. It's funny because Andre Talley, fashion editor is in the video with her. I'll stop hating on her now. She still have a wonderful voice.
Did they need the money?I saw the ad for the new Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock called
The Lake House. It is supposed to be a romantic, chick flick about two people living two years apart that fall in love. Keanu and Sandra had zero chemistry in Speed and while I love the Matrix, Keanu has all the emotional qualities of a potato.
Read the fine print So I went to NYC this weekend to go see the Color Purple on Broadway, get my hair-braided and go to my girl's going away party. I also had dinner w/ my Paris landlord. Because hotels were full and/or almost $400 night, I decided to use an agency and stay in a rental home. I glanced over the description, saw it was near MadGirl's house, looked cute and was cheap, so I decided to stay there. However, while I read that the apartment was a five-floor walk-up, I neglected to read the part where they said there was no bathroom. Well, there was a toilette, but when I got there, she showed me how to take off a wooden plank and use the bathtub. I almost fell out laughing. and it wasn't even a full-sized tub. It was almost like a hip bath. I guess the woman, who was older, lived there for years and had rent-controlled on the upper east side. Oh what you will do for rent control. Plus her two cats were in the apartment. one made nice with me, but the other one was just like, "yo, trick, get up out of my house" and basically hissed at me anytime i got too close.
Then I saw
The Color Purple on broadway. It was interesting. First it is a musical. It is hard without seeing the play, having read the book and seen the movie, to think of the Color Purple as a musical. I think it was definitely more light-hearted than the book and the movie because it was a musical. They tried to keep the emotional arcs and keep true to the spriit of the book, but it is definitely inspired by the book, rather than adapted for. I would give it a 7.8 out of 10.
I had snacks really, not dinner, with my Paris landlord and his wife. I totally love them. They are such an awesome couple and so fun to be around. He just had hernia surgey so he was pretty tired. But Bohhemia and I did decide we are going back to Paris at the end of the summer. God definitely worked that out again for me and hit me over the head with signs that I needed to go.
well, I must go contribute to class.
